Public Safety Statement

The safety of our students and staff is our foremost concern at Teaneck Public Schools. We collaborate closely with the Teaneck Police and Fire Departments to ensure a comprehensive approach to school safety. Strict security measures are implemented across all our schools, including locked premises, restricted access for unauthorized visitors, surveillance cameras to monitor entries, and the presence of crisis management teams in each school. We conduct regular and thorough reviews, evaluations, and updates of safety practices and security plans to maintain a vigilant and secure environment.

Moreover, at Teaneck Public Schools, we conduct emergency drills mandated by the state every month at each school. These drills encompass both fire and security scenarios. Security drills involve exercises such as non-fire evacuations and lockdown situations. To enhance preparedness, we practice a different security drill each month, ensuring that each drill is repeated as needed. This approach guarantees that students and staff are well-versed in safety procedures and can effectively respond in diverse situations, with each security drill practiced at least twice a year. Following each safety drill, we closely observe our students' reactions and evaluate our procedures, seamlessly integrating these exercises into our standard safety practices.

In September 2024, the Teaneck Public Schools will begin using The Standard Response Protocol for responding to emergencies. Please click the link for more information and a short video about The Standard Response Protocol.
