Teaneck Public Schools offers a free full day, high quality Pre-K program to eligible 3 & 4-year-old children. Your child must be a Teaneck resident and turn 3 or 4 by October 1st of the year in which they will begin school. Our program utilizes the state approved
Tools of the Mind Curriculum, which is aligned to the
NJ Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards. Tools is a research-based, comprehensive curriculum that promotes development in the areas of social-emotional, self-regulation, executive functioning, and foundational academic skills. Children engage in theme based dramatic play, large and small group literacy and math activities, free choice time, and gross motor/outdoor time. Instructional activities are scaffolded to meet individual learning needs.

Teaneck Early Childhood Advisory Council (TECAC)
ECAC Definition-Early Childhood Advisory Council or “ECAC” means an advisory group of education community stakeholders interested in the education and welfare of children in preschool through grade three that is convened by the school district (N.J.A.C.6A:13A-1.2).
Mission/Charge- As required under N.J.A.C.6A:13A-4.6, the district board of education shall establish a preschool through grade three Early Childhood Advisory Council (ECAC) to review implementation of high-quality programs, serve as advisory support for the local school district’s preschool program and support transition as children move from preschool through grade three.
