Welcome to Teaneck Public Schools

The Town at a Glance
Located in Bergen County, just four miles west of the George Washington Bridge to New York City, Teaneck benefits from its proximity to major highways, colleges and universities, cultural and sports centers, restaurants, beautiful countryside, and shopping.

Teaneck is 6.2 square miles and has a population of over 40,000.

Our Public Schools
First in the country to voluntarily integrate its schools, this district is dedicated to its Vision and Mission statements (per the 2019-2024 District Strategic Plan).

Mission: The Teaneck Public School District educates and empowers students by providing a high quality, rigorous educational experience which prepares students for success within a diverse, global society.

We follow New Jersey Student Learning Standards and provide a wide array of programs to meet the needs and learning styles of our students, at all eight schools:

    -Bryant School:  Full-day Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4
    -Theodora Smiley Lacey School: Pre-K 3, Pre-K4, and Kindergarten
    -Hawthorne, Lowell & Whittier Elementary Schools:  Grades K – 4
    -Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson Middle Schools:  Grades 5 – 8
    -Teaneck High School:  Grades 9 – 12 (and 18-21 program)

We have active PTO/PTAs at all of our schools.

Our Teaching Staff
At Teaneck Public Schools, we have a commitment to finding and keeping qualified personnel whose backgrounds and experiences reflect the diversity of our community. Ongoing professional development is valued as essential for the growth and retention of our staff. Many of our teachers and administrators present at local, state, and national conferences.

Broad Range of Programs & Services
Full continuum of Special Education services (ages 3 to 21) is available including in-class support, self-contained classes, and resource programs * Teaneck Community Education Center, sponsored by the Board of Education, offers before and after School Age Child Care (SACC) and summer programs - Camp Kookooskoos * Quality athletics program for high school and middle schools * Mental Health Services provided to our students and families.
