Welcome to the FORUM - Teaneck's School Based Youth Services Program

ABOUT US

The FORUM (Forging Opportunities for Reasoning, Understanding and Maturity) is a School Based Youth Services(SBYSP) program with the mission to inspire the positive emotional, physical, social, and academic development of Teaneck's residents enrolled  in high school through comprehensive easily accessible services. 

We are grant funded through the New Jersey Department of Children and Families, Division of Family and Community Partnerships, The Township of Teaneck, The Teaneck Public Schools and The Bergen County Department of Human Services. 

Who can access our services?
The FORUM is available to all Teaneck students enrolled in high school and their families.  

What is the cost?
All services are free of charge.

Where is the FORUM Located?
Teaneck High School - Room 127.

When are the hours of operation?
The FORUM is open 12 months a year,  Monday through Friday, 8am - 4pm.   Services are not available when the Teaneck Public Schools are closed.

SERVICES

The FORUM offers a full range of services that gives you a chance to get involved, get advice, and get help wherever you need it. The following services are offered free of charge: academic support, counseling, employment development, referrals, recreation and clubs.

School Based Counseling
The FORUM offers school based group, individual and family counseling as well as referrals to local mental health resources.  All counseling services are free of charge and confidential.
 
Employment Enrichment Program
The Employment Enrichment program provides Teaneck residents enrolled in high school the opportunity to participate in career development, life skills training and employment placement. Students may obtain positions in the community and attend workshops on interviewing, resume writing and goal setting.   
 
Strive Academic Support Program
The Strive Academic Support program is designed to assist students who need reinforcement or enrichment in their academic pursuits.  The program provides tutoring and supplementary instruction in the areas of homework completion, test preparation, organization and study skills.  Strive is available to all students in grades 9 through 12.  

Clubs

A.C.E. (Architecture, Construction & Engineering) - Education and career mentoring program for students.



Interact -  A partnership with the Teaneck Rotary that provides opportunities for students to improve their  community by becoming involved in various service projects and form meaningful relationships with local business professionals and community leaders.


Studio 2B - Non-traditional Girl Scout Troop that provides members the opportunity to build leadership by sharing experiences, engaging in group activities and giving back to the community through service projects


Recreation

Trips:
The FORUM in partnership with the Teaneck Recreation Department offers trips year round.  Destinations vary, and include but are not limited to: Brooklyn Nets basketball games, Mets baseball games, Radio City Music Hall, Humdingers Bowling & Arcade, Medieval Times, Six Flags, Hurricane Harbor, and the NJ Performing Arts Center.

Open Gym
Open Gym is a partnership with Teaneck Recreation Department that allows students to come and play basketball and volleyball in a safe and supervised environment.   Students are also able to participate in the Annual Open Gym Basketball Tournament.

Basketball: Mondays and Tuesdays 7pm to 9pm  in the THS Gym.   

 Volleyball:  Wednesdays 7pm to 9pm
