Educating our students is a community effort, and because of that the Teaneck Board of Education is encouraging residents, especially senior citizens, to volunteer their time, knowledge and talents.
Some needs for volunteers include:
- Reading buddy for elementary students
- Tutoing for students
- Assisting teachers by monitoring small classroom groups
- Assisting with clerical work
- Assisting in the school library
Volunteers are required to undergo a criminal background check (the district reimburses the volunteer for $31 fee). We will provide a training handbook for volunteers.
If you are interested in volunteering at our district schools, please call Terry Corallo, Supervisor of Community Relations & Volunteer Services at 201-833-5498 for more information and to the begin the application process. NOTE: If you are a parent of a child in the school district and would like to volunteer, you are encouraged to join your PTO/A.
