Regular Public Meeting

All are invited to the Board of Education Regular Public Meetings, which begin at 8:00pm, now being held in person at Teaneck High School and virtually via zoom link. The link to the meeting can be found on the public notice page. The Board holds two meetings a month Workshop and the Regular Public Meeting, September through June. Official business is conducted at its monthly meeting. The public may speak to agenda items prior to Board action on the agenda and may address other issues at the conclusion of the business portion of the meeting.

Workshop Description

On the first or the second Wednesday of each month depending on any religious holidays or observances or school closures in the months of September through June, the Board holds a public workshop session virtually via a zoom link located on the district website. At these monthly workshop meetings the Board reviews and discusses the business agenda that will be formally acted upon the following week. In addition to providing an opportunity to present information to the Board that requires action at the Regular Public Meeting, workshop meetings also include presentations on educationally relevant items of interest selected by the Superintendent with Board input. There might be formal action taken at these meetings with the Board and the Superintendent’s approval.

Board Agendas

Board business agendas are available in the District Administration Building in the Board Secretary’s Office on the day of the meeting and copies are available at each meeting. The agenda is posted on the district website on the day of the meeting. The agenda contains the business to be considered at each meeting. Board members receive the agenda and supporting documents before the meeting to ensure that they are prepared to review, discuss and make decisions regarding the monthly business at hand. The Board agendas and the minutes from previous public meetings are posted on the district web site.

Public Comment Sessions

The Board holds a public comment sessions to hear community input. During this public segment, community members may speak on any issue of interest or concern. Each speaker will be allotted three minutes to address the Board. If you are not able to log on remotely and would like to ask a question, please send your question to: [email protected] and he will respond to your questions/concern accordingly.

Letters to the Board that appear on the agenda under correspondence may be discussed during the first public session. Agendas are available in the Board Office the afternoon of a scheduled meeting. At Special Public Meetings, which are called as necessary, the public may speak only to agenda items.

Announcements of meetings and meeting changes appear on the district website. The Workshop and the Regular Public Meetings are broadcast live.

Procedure to Address the Board


  • When in-person, come to the microphone during Public Comment portion or when virtual, select "raise your hand" via the hand icon on your screen
  • If virtual, you will be moved from the onscreen audience into a "panelist" in order to speak and be heard to the public
  • Wait to be recognized by the Board President and
  • State your name and address and, if applicable, position with the school district and start speaking
  • Be brief and to the point (a three-minute limit is customary)
