Kick Off Meeting

Teaneck Public Schools Launches Strategic Planning with Strong Community Engagement

On April 28, Teaneck Public Schools proudly hosted the Strategic Planning Kick-Off Meeting at the Teaneck High School Student Center, marking an important step toward shaping the district’s future. The event drew strong community engagement, with over 30 parents, students, and community members attending in person and an additional 51 participants joining virtually via Zoom—demonstrating a clear commitment to collaborative progress.

Facilitated by district leadership and featuring a presentation from Superintendent Dr. Andre Spencer, the evening began with an overview of the strategic planning process, its goals, and the timeline for development. Dr. Spencer emphasized the importance of inclusivity and community voice in shaping a shared vision for the district.

“With the launch of a new measurable strategic plan that will guide our district over the next five years, we are embracing a future-focused approach grounded in innovation with a concentration on continuous improvement for the whole child,” said Dr. Spencer. “The strong engagement from our internal and external stakeholders reflects a shared commitment to preparing students for the opportunities of tomorrow. Together, we are shaping a Portrait of a Teaneck Graduate and advancing a more dynamic, forward-thinking school district—one that empowers every learner to thrive in a rapidly changing world.”

During the interactive presentation, attendees had the opportunity to engage in a question-and-answer session. Participants, both in person and virtual, shared feedback, posed thoughtful questions, and expressed hopes for the district’s future. This input will help identify key priorities that will inform the next phase of the strategic plan.

“As a school board, we have a responsibility to collaborate with the superintendent, staff, students, parents, and the broader community to establish a clear vision and mission for the district,” said Ed Ha, Board President. “Our commitment to setting a specific, measurable goal for 2025–2026, along with the launch of our strategic planning process, reflects this focus and our dedication to accountability. While we face many challenges ahead, I was deeply energized by the strong level of engagement within our community. Together, we are building a better Teaneck and a stronger Teaneck Public School District.”

The feedback gathered during the session will be analyzed and incorporated into the plan's ongoing development. In the coming weeks, additional opportunities for community input will be announced.

The district thanks everyone who attended and contributed their voice to this meaningful process. Together, we are laying the groundwork for a strong, student-centered future.
