Statement on Arrest of Substitute

Ronald Kraus, who has been a substitute in Teaneck Public Schools since December 2016, was arrested on March 8, 2017, on charges of inappropriately touching a 6-year-old girl. Once the district was made aware of the allegations and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s investigation, Mr. Kraus was removed from the substitute roster. He has not substituted in the district since February 22, 2017.

The Interim Superintendent sent a letter to all district parents on Thursday, March 9, 2017, to inform them of this disturbing news. Teaneck Public Schools will cooperate with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Teaneck Police Department in this ongoing investigation. It is through a regimented and collaborative process that we can work to keep our children safe.

The safety and well-being of our students is always the highest priority in Teaneck Public Schools. We will continue to support all of our students and their parents in responding to this news.
