TEANECK HIGH SCHOOL’S 2018 PARCC SCORES
OUTPERFORM STATE AVERAGES FOR
“MEETING & EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS” IN ELA

District results also include performance growth in subgroup populations and exceptional performance on 8th grade Algebra 1

TEANECK, NJ, [October 10, 2018] –  At this evening’s Board of Education meeting, Teaneck Public Schools’ Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction, Mr. Vincent McHale, will present the district’s 2018 Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) State assessment scores.  Highlights from this year’s PARCC include the district’s English Language Arts (ELA) combined “Meeting & Exceeding Expectations” scores outperforming State averages in all high school, and most elementary school grades.

Additionally, subgroup populations including Hispanic and students with special needs, realized gains in ELA, while the District’s middle schools (Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson) continued to demonstrate exceptional performance on the Algebra 1 assessment.

Dr. Christopher Irving, Teaneck’s Superintendent of Schools, commented, “This year’s results are a testament to the great work taking place in all of our schools; but there is much more work to be done – especially in Math.  Our plans for the 2018-2019 school year include working with our Curriculum & Instruction department to create innovative strategies to improve our students’ Math performance long-term.”

The Board of Education meeting will be held today, October 10th at 8 pm at the Teaneck High School, Student Center.  The full 2018 PARCC presentation will be available on the district website.
