Principal's Message

Greeting Benjamin Franklin Middle School Community,

It is with profound pleasure that I introduce myself to you as the incoming
Instructional Leader at Benjamin Franklin Middle School. My name is
Terrence Williams and I will be leading learning for the students, staff, and
stakeholders at our school. A central theme and goal at our school will be
to provide students with an exceptional and competitive education
that will prepare each of them for their tomorrow… TODAY!

As a founding father of this nation, Benjamin Franklin was well-known for
being a courageous, innovative, forward thinking, and knowledge
seeking leader. The students at Benjamin Franklin Middle School (BFMS)
will be emboldened to consider how these very characteristics might
contribute to building and maintaining a climate and culture of teaching,
learning, and leading in our school community, and beyond.

During the June 26, 2019 Teaneck Public School board meeting, Dr.
Christopher Irving -Superintendent of Schools, proposed a Five-Year
Strategic Plan that highlighted the following core values: Excellence,
Innovation, Equity, and Collaboration. These values aligned with the
priorities and goals set forth will become the foundation of our success at
Benjamin Franklin Middle School and our entire school district.

In addition to this district plan, I have created an entry plan that started on
July 1, 2019 and it will run throughout the academic year. The
administrative team at BFMS will support the following goals:

* Build and sustain a level of responsibility between administration,
instructional and non-instructional staff, parents, guardians, and all
other stakeholders at BFMS
* Inventory the school’s strengths and areas of improvement in all
areas of operation
* Establish a clear and coherent communication system between the
school, community, and other stakeholders
* Communicate expectations to our staff, students, and parents
regarding our commitment to service and support, safety and
security, community engagement, and reassuring our duty to all
learners

Much of this work has already started. However, students, parents, and
community stakeholders can schedule time to meet with me during the
summer by contacting Mrs. Catherine Hollis, Secretary of the Principal at
201-833-5451.

I want to thank the community of Teaneck Public Schools for its warm
welcome to the district and to Benjamin Franklin Middle School. I am
looking forward to your support as we collectively work to provide students
with an exceptional and competitive education that will prepare each of
them for their tomorrow… TODAY!

Thank you,

Terrence Williams
