Teaneck High School Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Latino HeritageTeaneck High School's World Language department hosted Dr. Lissette Acosta Corniel on Friday, October 12th.  Dr. Acosta Corniel is an Assistant Professor at the Center for Ethnic Studies at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, CUNY in New York City where she teaches Dominican History and the History of Latinos in the U.S.   Dr. Acosta Corniel spoke to approximately 250 Teaneck High School students and discussed the history of Latinos in the U.S. in order to analyze in depth contemporary Latino-related issues. Students also discussed Latino cultures and sub cultures within our society. Students will continue the discussion in their classrooms in the coming weeks and will reflect on their personal stories.
