Good morning Hawthorne Families,

  • Math night is tonight from 6pm to 8pm. Please enter the school through the Lucy Avenue entrance only. Please check in with one of the Hawthorne staff members, outside of the gym, prior to entering the gym for math night. This would ensure that your child's attendance is noted and that he/she receives the "no homework pass" for math. As a reminder, at least one parent/guardian should remain with the student at math night. No drop offs are permitted.
  • Next week marks the beginning of May. School is closed on May 2, in recognition of Eid al Fitr. Additionally, there is a delayed opening on May 3rd.  Please see the May calendar attached: May 2022 Calendar.pdf
  • Next week is also Teacher Appreciation Week! Our teachers are the backbone of our school. The magic happens in our classrooms. We want our teachers to know how much we appreciate their hard work and care for our students, especially during their special week. Please feel free to share a note of appreciation on the Teacher Appreciation KUDOBOARD: https://www.kudoboard.com/boards/D08tVbC8.
  • Please consider attending the virtual PTA meeting on Thursday, May 5th at 7pm. Please see the flyer attached: PTA Meeting May.png. Also, we are still in need of Executive Board members for next year's PTA. We are in danger of having no PTA for next school year due to vacant offices.
  • A few days ago, information was sent in regards to NJSLA testing dates for 3rd and 4th grade students. Please ensure that your child brings their district-issued chromebook, which is charged, for testing. Testing can not be done on any devices other than those which have been issued by the school district. Please contact me if your child does not have a district-issued chromebook.
  • Middle school is around the corner. Nina Odatalla, the principal of Thomas Jefferson Middle School, shared a letter regarding a walk and talk event for incoming 5th grade TJMS students. Please see the letter attached: Walk & Talk letter .pdf
  • Also, please consider supporting the students at TJMS by patronizing their Entrepreneur Marketplace: Screen Shot 2022-04-18 at 12.30.59 PM (1) (1).png
