Rock Your Socks for World Down Syndrome Day

Thursday, March 21st

World Down Syndrome Day is an annual event held on the 21st of March to raise public awareness about Down syndrome and to celebrate the lives and achievements of people with Down syndrome. One way to show your support on this day is by wearing mismatched socks. The reason behind this is that chromosomes look like socks, and people with Down syndrome have an extra chromosome, which is why mismatched socks symbolize the uniqueness of individuals with Down syndrome. So, grab a pair of mismatched socks and wear them on Wednesday to show your support for those with Down syndrome and spread awareness.

Thursday, September 21st

Thursday Tidbits:

Please bring your child(ren) to school on time every day. Hawthorne School's instructional day runs from 8:30AM to 3:00PM. Students who arrive after 8:30AM must receive a late pass.

Regular tardiness to school can adversely impact the academic performance and social-well being of students. Additionally, students arriving late to the classroom disrupt the flow of morning instruction.

Back to School Night

Thursday, September 28, 2023

12:30 PM Dismissal

SACC & the Recreation Center will be open at 12:30 PM

Session 1: 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM

Principal's Meeting: 7:05 PM (in the gym)

Session 2: 7:30 PM - 8:00 PM

For 4th Grade Parents/Guardians:

NJSLA Individual Student Reports from the spring assessments will be mailed home early next week to 4th grade parents/guardians.

Parents/Guardians can access their student's performance online by visiting NJ Parent Portal at https://nj-results.pearsonaccessnext.com. An account must be created using the unique claim code provided on the student's Individual Student Report to add the results to their profile.

PTA Council Reflection Contest:

The PTA Council is collecting entries for the PTA Reflections program again this year.

This year's theme is "I am Hopeful Because".

Students are asked to create an original piece in one of the following categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, or visual arts. All entries are due by December 8, 2023. Entries will be judged at the local level, then at the state level, and possibly the national level with a chance to win prizes along the way.
