Children with a strong emotional vocabulary tolerate frustration better, are less impulsive, more focused, and have greater academic achievement. Throughout the year teachers have been building emotional literacy with a variety of strategies including Tools of the Mind Story Lab Character Empathy activities. This week's Pyramid Model Update "Teaching Emotions: Activity Ideas to Share with Families"  suggests strategies to help build student's emotional literacy at home.
