All Teaneck children may eat lunch in school. In addition, breakfast and lunch is available at all schools. Maschio’s Food Service has been retained by the Board of Education as its food service management company for the 2021-2022 school year.

Teaneck participates in the National School Lunch Program through which children may purchase low-cost lunch, breakfast and milk, and may be eligible for free or reduced price meals. A la carte offerings or a balanced complete meal are available at lunch and breakfast. Students that are eligible for free or reduced price lunch qualify for free or reduced price breakfast as well.

Applications for free and reduced priced meals are sent home in a mailing during the month of August and will be available to all students on the first day of school. Parents may fill out the online application on the school district website starting August 16, 2021.  If filling out a paper application it must be properly filled out and returned to your child’s school as soon as possible. PLEASE NOTE: FOR THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR THE SCHOOL MEALS (BREAKFAST & LUNCH) ARE FREE FOR ALL STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THE TEANECK PUBLIC SCHOOLS BUT WE STRONGLY URGE AND RECOMMEND ALL PARENTS FILL OUT AN APPLICATION TO DETERMINE ELIGIBILITY FOR ANY STATE RELATED SUPPORT.

If you do not receive an application, please call the school your child attends or you can go to the Teaneck school website at www.teaneckschools.org and download the lunch application and fill it out and send it back to the school your child attends. Please put all children in the same household on ONE application only.

ALL CHILDREN WILL BE RECEIVING FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH FOR THE 21-22 SCHOOL YEAR REGARDLESS OF AN APPLICATION BEING FILLED OUT FOR THE YEAR.  BUT PER THE STATE THE DISTRICT STRONGLY URGES ALL PARENTS TO FILL OUT THE PAPER APPLICATION OR AN ONLINE APPLICATION TO DETERMINE ELIGIBILTY FOR OTHER SUPPORT FROM THE STATE.

Children who were receiving free and reduced lunch/breakfast as of June 2021 will continue to receive free and reduced price lunch/breakfast through the period of September 9, 2021 - October 18, 2021 only. A new application must be filled out in order for the student to continue receiving free and reduced lunch/breakfast for the 2021-2022 school year. If a new application is not filled out by October 19, 2021, the free and reduced benefits will be terminated.

Did you know your child’s school lunch is age appropriate by design and includes a wide variety of healthy options like low fat milk, fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains? We take great pride in being able to offer your children healthy food choices so that they can fuel their bodies to get them through the school day and beyond! Meals are offered at no charge for all students again this school year due to continued USDA funding. Money may still be placed in student accounts for a la carte, milk, extra entrée items, since these items can only be purchased with funds in the student account. This is the preferred method to minimize the handling of cash. Register for an online payment account www.myschoolbucks.com.

The high school and middle schools use a personalized identification system through which students scan their ID badges or use a PIN code to purchase lunch/breakfast items. This enables them to buy items whether using their pre-paid account or paying in cash.
