Teaneck High School Teacher Goes to Harvard
Nicole CooperWe are proud to announce that Ms. Nicole Cooper, Teaneck High School Social Studies teacher, has been accepted to attend the Harvard Case Methods Civics Workshop this coming August. She was nominated by the Teaneck League of Women Voters and Dr. Marisa King, Teaneck's Social Studies Supervisor, based on her advocacy to provide opportunities for our high school students to engage in civic education.

As an undergraduate student at Rutgers University, Ms. Cooper was one of the creators and served as an intern in the RU Ready civic engagement initiative that is run by the Eagleton Institute of Politics.

During the school year, Ms. Cooper worked with Dr. Elizabeth Matto, the Associate Research Professor and Director of the Center for Youth and Political Participation at Rutgers University to bring the RU Ready civic engagement initiative to Teaneck High School. Ms. Cooper, Dr. Matto, and interns from the Institute engaged junior students in activities and simulations on how to be civically engaged at the local level. Ms. Cooper's participation in the Harvard Civics Education program this summer will help to further expand civic education for our students.
