Early Childhood/Preschool
Teaneck Public Schools offers a free full day, high quality Pre-K program to eligible 3 & 4-year-old children. Our program utilizes the state approved Tools of the MindCurriculum, which is aligned to the NJ Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards. Tools is a research-based, comprehensive curriculum that promotes development in the areas of social-emotional, self-regulation, executive functioning, and foundational academic skills. Children engage in theme based dramatic play, large and small group literacy and math activities, free choice time, and gross motor/outdoor time. Instructional activities are scaffolded to meet individual learning needs. We utilize Teaching Strategies Gold for formative assessment where students are observed through everyday activities in the natural classroom environment.
