What is Title I?

Title I is the largest federally funded education program designed to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education. The program provides schools with additional resources to:

  • Offer academic support and intervention services

  • Provide professional development for teachers and staff

  • Increase family engagement in student learning

  • Improve overall school performance

Our Commitment to Families

Teaneck Public Schools believes that family engagement is essential to student success. Each school receiving Title I funds develops a School-Level Parent and Family Engagement Policy and hosts annual meetings to share information about:

  • The Title I program and services offered

  • Academic standards and expectations

  • Ways families can support learning at home

  • Opportunities to participate in planning and feedback

Parent Rights Under ESSA

As part of ESSA, parents and guardians have the right to request information about the professional qualifications of their child’s teachers and paraprofessionals.
Requests can be directed to your child’s school principal or to the Office of School Innovation and Student Achievement.

Working Together

By partnering with families, educators, and the community, Teaneck Public Schools ensures that every child receives the tools, instruction, and encouragement needed to achieve academic excellence.

Title I Documents

The Parent’s Right to Know Letter informs families of their legal right under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) to request information about the professional qualifications of their child’s teachers and paraprofessionals. It ensures transparency and reinforces Teaneck Public Schools’ commitment to employing certified, highly qualified educators who support student achievement.

The Title I School–Parent Compact is a collaborative agreement that outlines how families, school staff, and students share responsibility for improving academic achievement. It reflects Teaneck Public Schools’ commitment to fostering strong home–school partnerships that support student success and ensure all children meet New Jersey’s challenging academic standards
