TEANECK ACHIEVES: EARNING THE ASSOCIATE DEGREE WHILE IN HIGH SCHOOL

Teaneck Achieves is an innovative Early College partnership between Teaneck High School and Bergen Community College, offering students the opportunity to earn a tuition-free associate degree by the end of their senior year — while simultaneously fulfilling New Jersey high school graduation requirements. The Class of 2027 will serve as the inaugural cohort for this program.

About the Program
Students in Teaneck Achieves complete 60 college credits through a shared-time model, spending mornings on the Bergen Community College campus and afternoons at Teaneck High School. This structure allows students to experience college-level coursework and expectations while remaining fully connected to their high school community. Upon completion of the program, students will apply to colleges or universities as first-year freshmen.

Application & Eligibility
The application process opens during a student's sophomore year and includes the following requirements:
  • Completion of the Bergen Community College Early College Application
  • Qualifying scores on the Accuplacer (administered by Bergen Community College): Math — 264 or higher in Arithmetic and Algebra; Reading — 243 or higher; Essay — 6 or higher
  • Signed parent and student participation agreements
  • Participation in the Bergen Community College Orientation (held each August)

Program Expectations
To remain in good standing, students must earn no less than a C+ in all Bergen Community College courses. Annual winter information sessions are held for students and families to review program expectations, timelines, and commitments. Attendance at one of these sessions is required for program eligibility.
