Bloomfield College and Teaneck Public Schools Announce Scholarship Partnership
TEANECK, NJ, [January 17, 2019] - Bloomfield College has partnered with Teaneck Public Schools to provide merit scholarships, and mentoring and academic support, to Teaneck’s exceptionally talented high school graduates. The official Memorandum of Understanding was approved by the Teaneck Board of Education on January 16.
The scholarships, based on GPA and SAT score, range from $9,000 per year ($36,000/four years) to $16,000 per year ($64,000/four years). Transfer scholarships for students of Teaneck Public schools beginning at $9,000 per year are also available. Once enrolled at Bloomfield College, they will be provided innovative support services and resources, including peer-to-peer tutoring, to ensure educational access and personal success.
In addition to merit scholarships, students from NJ who file a FAFSA and are Pell eligible will receive an additional Bloomfield College Grant to cover 100% of their remaining direct costs after State, Federal, Merit and Federal Direct Student Loans are applied. Students from NJ who are not Pell eligible will receive an additional Bloomfield College Grant in the amount of 50% of their remaining direct costs after State, Federal, Merit and Federal Direct Student Loans are applied.
“This new partnership is a clear example of how colleges and school districts can collaborate to create better educational outcomes for citizens of New Jersey,” said Richard A. Levao, President of Bloomfield College. “We are excited to offer an array of generous scholarships for both high achieving students and others who are in need for greater financial support to meet the cost of education.”
"The rising costs of college tuition is a great concern for many families," noted Dr. Christopher Irving, Superintendent of Teaneck Public Schools. "Through this partnership with Bloomfield College, our students will have the opportunity to continue their education while benefiting from scholarships, internships, and mentoring programs. I want to thank Bloomfield College President, Richard Levao, and his staff for recognizing that Teaneck Public School students are worth this investment. It is my goal to continue to explore similar opportunities across the State because I am a firm believer that Teaneck's children would be an asset to any college or university."
The College and District have also announced a 25% tuition reduction to all Teaneck Public School District employees interested in pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, including the Master in Education degree, at Bloomfield College.
